8-19-08: Welcome back Cornell students this weekend
Summer can't almost be over! With the return of the Cornell students this weekend, it seems like the summer has flown by! This weekend will find me in Washington DC visiting my niece who just relocated there after graduating from Vassar. We are planning a visit to the American Indian museum at the Smithsonian. And hopefully dinner at Filomena's in Georgetown.
On the real estate front, there are still good listings out there for buyers to choose. The interest rates are still holding steady - between 6% and 6.5% for residential rates. No closing cost mortgage options at CFCU and Elmira Savings Bank.
This is also closing season - this week through Labor Day. With the students coming, newcomers should call utilities for their electric and cable asap - there is a long wait this time of year!
8-7-08: What to do in Ithaca? Everything!
Summer is in full swing here in Ithaca and if you can't find anything interesting and fun to do, you aren't trying hard enough! This week the Hangar Theatre is offering "The Playboy of the Western World" which is an Irish play set in the 1920's. There is NASCAR racing this weekend at Watkins Glen, the Women Swimmin' for Hospicare at the Yacht Club, and so much more!

6-4-08: Cornell Alumni Reunion Weekend upcoming
So I hate to admit this, but I will be celebrating my 20th year reunion from graduating from Cornell this upcoming weekend. Since I live in Ithaca, being on campus is not a rare thing but it will be fun to see some of my classmates and catch up on old times. I am sure that some of my memories will be refreshed and I look forward to being an official tour guide - which is my usual role as I work with a lot of out-of-towners thinking of moving to Ithaca.

5-13-08: Sirens Win Again
What a fun tournament this past weekend! The Ithaca Sirens went undefeated in 4 games to win the Queen Victoria hockey tournament at The Rink in Lansing.
We played Elmira on Friday night, Westchester Saturday morning, Rochester Saturday night and then the other Rochester team Sunday morning in the championship game. They played hard and have given us a tough battle two years in a row.
Thanks to organizer Kelly Pike for making the Queen Victoria tournament a reality - you rock!
Upcoming this weekend: Ithaca College Graduation & Cortland State Graduation weekend
5-5-08: Happy Cinco de Mayo

4-24-08: Go Canadiens!
OK so the Sabres are out of the NHL playoffs this year so I have to root for Montreal -sorry Mom, I know you wanted Boston to beat them!
Tonight starts the first round with Philly. Although I like Martin Biron and Joffrey Lupul, I just have to root for Alex Kovalev and Carey Price - the league's most underrated goalie this year!

3-27-08: Ithaca Sirens win Banner at Brampton Tournament Easter Weekend
Congrats to my hockey team - the Ithaca Sirens - who brought home the winning banner from Canada's Brampton hockey tournament. Also check out the new photos on 35 Algerine Road. The owner has hired a professional staging company to stage the interior and highlight some of the best features, including installing a mantel over the fireplace and placing furniture in the open floor plan to best showcase the utility of the spaces.

This weather is great for playing ice hockey at Cass Park or downhill skiing at Greek Peak Mountain Resort.

11-04-07: Winter is coming...
This morning it's brisk - 30 degrees and a high of 50...winter isn't here yet, but we have been spoiled with such unseasonably high Fall temperatures that this morning brings us a dose of reality.
Next week I am off to Las Vegas for the National Association of REALTORS convention.
Election Day is tomorrow...exercise your right to choose our local leaders and VOTE!

10-31-07: Happy Halloween
Today I dressed up as a modern-day Cleopatra, but it seems that no one knows who Cleopatra is anymore...kudos to Myron who guessed Nefertiti...at least he was close with an Egyptian reference!
Maxie's staff win the award for most creative...they all dressed up as Simpsons characters! My favorite - Duff Man.

MAY 2007
05-28-07: Memorial Day 2007
Thanks to all who serve in our military, including my nephews Austin Glenn and Stuart Glenn in the United States Marines. Austin is stationed at Kaneohe Bay in Hawaii and is coming home soon. Stuart, who has served in Iraq, is stationed in Okinawa. I am so proud of our Marines!
Also starting tonight: Stanley Cup Playoffs 2007 - guess I will be rooting for Ottawa - the team from the East. Go Spezza!
05-26-07: Cornell Lacrosse Game today
I will be rooting for the 2007 Cornell's Men lacrosse team at 2:30pm today.
Cornell is also holding Graduation today at 12noon - congrats to the Class of 2007. Go forth and conquer!
05-25-07: Stanley Cup Finals
Last year I wrote this in May: "I'm still recovering from the Buffalo Sabres loss to Carolina in Game 7 the other night...but looking forward to the start of the Stanley Cup Finals. Hockey fans will have one more week of hockey before the season ends."
This year I am shocked at the loss of Buffalo to Ottawa, although I guess I want Ottawa to win out over the Mighty Ducks, the worst-named team in NHL history. Sorry Selanne and Pronger fans...Spezza and Emery just looks so much nicer on the Cup!
