CJ’s Educational Background:
She grew up on Sodus Bay, NY – located between Rochester and Syracuse off Lake Ontario. She graduated from Sodus Central School, was a member of National Honor Society and earned an English scholarship for college.
1984-1988: Graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources.
1992-1996: CJ also earned a Master of Science degree in Corporate Communications from Ithaca College from the Roy H. Park School of Communications.
During her college years, she developed an interest in live theatre and enjoyed a 9-year career in the theatre arts. She worked at many fine theatres including Cornell Theatre, Corning Summer Theatre, the Ogunquit Playhouse, Ithaca College Theatre and Studio Arena Theatre in Buffalo NY. She worked mainly in Management and Marketing/Promotions.
CJ’s career in real estate started in 1994 when she was hired as General Manager of Housing Solutions – Ithaca’s largest apartment referral service matching landlords with prospective tenants.

CJ’s background in marketing, sales & management is a huge bonus for both buyers and sellers. She offers a creative edge in marketing homes for sale both in print and Internet media. CJ uses her experience in the market to help sellers pinpoint a realistic asking price which enables her to get homes sold quickly. CJ has been very active with the local REALTOR® association, the Ithaca Board of REALTORS®, since first becoming a REALTOR®.
She has served as President of the Ithaca Board (2004) and as State Director (2011-2013).
She was awarded the honor of “REALTOR® of the YEAR” in 2001, awarded to an agent who demonstrates professionalism & high ethical standards, volunteerism for the local board and also volunteerism in the community.

- 2017 - Elected to an officer position as President-Elect, serving on the Leadership Team.
- 2016 – Elected to an officer position as Secretary/Treasurer. As a member of NYSAR's Leadership Team, CJ oversaw a $6m budget serving a membership of over 53,000 Realtor members.
- 2015 – Chair of Organizational Planning, the committee that sets policy and reviews bylaws for the State Association
- 2013 – CJ was selected as 1 of 10 leaders to be a NYSAR Mentor…helping newer members learn about the state association and navigate the committee meetings, etc. as needed.
- 2012 – As chair of Professional Standards, CJ created a handout celebrating the 100th centennial of the Code of Ethics which was published on the National Association of REALTORS® website, REALTOR.org
- 2010 – As chair of Legislative Steering Committee, CJ lobbied in Washington DC for property rights and tax advocacy for NYS homeowners. She met with, among other federal legislators, NYS Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.
- 2009-2010 – CJ served as Regional Vice President for the Southern Tier representing the Ithaca, Cortland, Greater Binghamton, Elmira-Corning and Otsego-Delaware Boards of REALTORS®. Her main role was as a liaison between the leaders of these local boards and the state association leadership.
- 2006 – chair of Communications and Public Relations Committee, working with NYSAR staff on the NYSAR website and NYS REALTOR® magazine and the partnership with NYS SEMO on emergency relief efforts as needed in the Ithaca area.

CJ’s Volunteerism in the Ithaca Community:
CJ believes very strongly in giving back to the Ithaca community. She supports affordable housing programs in the Ithaca area and is proud of her work with Better Housing for Tompkins County. She was on the Board of Directors from 2003 to 2009 and was Chair of the Board from 2006-2008. A highlight with the organization was the development of their forward-thinking Strategic Plan.
CJ used her marketing degree in an advisory role as a member of Tompkins County’s Public Information Advisory Board, from 2008-2018. This group advises the county’s Public Information Department on a variety of local communication issues including presentation of the County budget and overseeing the County websites. CJ helped Tompkins County unveil their new website which was a multi-year project involving dozens of county departments. She also helped the County PIO-Public Information Officer, Marcia Lynch, adopt social media communications for the County.
2013-2015: As an active Cornell alum, CJ served as President of the Cornell Alumni Association of Ithaca Area (CAAIA). The club organizes events for Cornell Alumni in and around the Ithaca area. Events support the Arlene S. Sadd Scholarship which provides a multi-year scholarship to a local Tompkins County student. Other events support local businesses owned and operated by Cornell alumni, as well as new projects at Cornell University.
2012-2013: As a Lansing resident, CJ served as a member of the Lansing Sewer Committee which was charged with bringing a new sewer district to the Town of Lansing. The focus of the proposed new sewer district was to allow planned development of affordable senior housing, retail, medical and office spaces. The Committee successfully obtained a $2.5m grant from the Southern Tier Economic Development grant program.
CJ’s Passion for Ice Hockey:
CJ is a huge fan of ice hockey and has also played recreationally for many years on the local women’s team the Ithaca Sirens.
She has been coaching girls hockey for the Tompkins Girls Hockey Association since 2008 and is a Level 4 USA Hockey certified coach. She has been head coach and assistant coach for ages 6-13. You will find her either at The Rink in Lansing and Cass Park downtown throughout the hockey season.
2020-2022 CJ joined the TGHA Board and was appointed President of TGHA. She brings her organizational skills in helping TGHA with season planning including ice time contracts, coaching certifications, team formations, fundraising and most recently guiding the 50th Anniversary season events for 2022-2023.
CJ enjoys teaching young girls to develop their love of hockey & hockey skills but also teaching such life lessons as good sportsmanship, teamwork, respecting your peers and dedication/hard work!
CJ is a long-time supporter of both the Cornell Men & Women’s Ice Hockey teams.
Favorite NHL teams include the Buffalo Sabres and the LA Kings (supporting our local Ithaca Youth Hockey native Dustin Brown, a 2-time Stanley Cup winner).
CJ’s Hobbies/Personal:
CJ enjoys many other activities/interests including being outdoors fishing, boating, biking and rollerblading. Her background in Natural Resources gave her a lifelong appreciation of the natural world/biology and she has a keen interest in the interaction of the environment and society. She also has a love for fine art and especially enjoys traveling.
She lives in the Town of Lansing with her husband Norm Croft (a 4th generation ‘Lansing son’ who is also a descendant of Lansing’s famous Andrew Myers – for whom Myers Park is named). Norm is also a retired ice hockey player/coach.
CJ is deeply rooted in New York State having lived in Sodus, Ithaca, Corning, Buffalo, and Rochester.
She is a great ambassador for Ithaca NY!
